What’s better than 50 craft breweries, live music, and river adventures? Just when you thought Rapids & Grass Beer Fest couldn’t get any better…enter the Ivy Ballroom inside the Surf Hotel. Hold on to your paddles because we’re bringing you not one, not two, but three monumental shows during RG Fest. The Movement Friday, June 28th, The Polish Ambassador, Saturday, June 29th, and Grantful Dead Revue, June 30th.
The Movement has been winning the hearts and minds of alternative-reggae fans since their inception in Columbia, SC in 2003. Drawing inspiration from Sublime, 311, Slightly Stoopid and John Brown’s Body, they’ve come to be known as musical shapeshifters with a foundation of heavy drum and bass. Today the band consists of founding member, lead vocalist, and guitarist Joshua Swain, bassist Jason Schmidt, drummer Gary Jackson, and keyboardist/multi-
The Polish Ambassador (real name David Sugalski) is raising the bar for what it means to be a professionally touring musician. Sure, the electronic musician lays claim to producing the sweetest beats this side of the Milky Way Galaxy, but the world’s funkiest diplomat is also using his popularity to steer the millennial generation toward a nourishing and sustainable way of relating with art, community, and the planet. From birthing the Permaculture Action Movement (a movement where the energy of show/festival goers is catalyzed into community action), to launching a Village Building Convergence in his hometown to creating a program where nutritious beverage options are available at music venues on a routed TPA tour, the ambassador is using his clout to make real, tangible change, and along the way inspiring hundreds of thousands. With a stack of 17 albums and countless remixes, the jumpsuited one has swirled together with a cornucopia of music for your auditory senses.
Grantful Dead Revue is an All-Star Amalgamation of Grant Farm and Rocky Mountain Grateful Dead Revue. The Rhythm Devils combo of Sean “Magic” Macaulay and Mayor Jake Wolf on Double Drums rolls like Thunder against the Lesh-ist punctuation of Adrian “Ace” Engfer on Bass. Riding the monster wave of rhythm are Kevin “Money” McHugh on Keyboards, Arthur Lee Land on Bobby Guitar and “Champ” Tyler Grant on Lead Garcia Guitar. The core members of this group were granted the #2 honor of the “Ten Best Moments of WinterWonderGrass Tahoe 2016” from JamBase.com, for their spearheading of the annual Pickin’ On the Dead sets. Providing an authentic Live Grateful Dead experience, this six-piece band cherishes the opportunity to come together with love for the Deadheads. In 2018 Grantful Dead Revue was featured on the main stage of WinterWonderGrass Steamboat. This rare appearance of the supergroup at Rapids and Grass festival will be followed by Freedomfest July 4 weekend at Squaw Valley, Lake Tahoe.
Our 3-day pass is the best way to save some money and guarantee your ticket to all 3 Ivy Ballroom shows during Rapids & Grass weekend.
